The Hamps

Staffordshire

The fishing that we have on the Hamps is owned by the Association. The Hamps is a tributary of the River Manifold with wild Brown trout and Grayling.

It’s small size, clear waters and shallow riffles can lead the inexperienced angler to think there’s just few fish in The Hamps, but the few determined members who are drawn to this stretch know better. History has shown that this river can produce some splendid and sizeable fish, which would grace many more famous streams.

Light tackle and stealth are needed to tempt fish from their haunts.

The water is very lightly fished by the members and it provides a challenge with stealth required to get the best from your visit.

Along with many other species, Mayfly hatch here in good numbers and a plentiful supply of cased caddis being found on our working parties.
